About us

Epicentrum Art Gallery was founded by Jaremi Picz in the heart of Opole, Poland. A renowned Polish painter, sculptor, and graphic artist, Jaremi Picz is a nationally honored cultural figure. He has been awarded numerous distinctions, including the Bronze Medal Gloria Artis, the Decoration of Honor Meritorious for Polish Culture awarded by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of Poland, and the Bronze Cross of Merit conferred by the President of Poland. His international exhibition record and long-standing engagement with graphic art and 20th-century European printmaking inform the gallery’s curatorial standards and strict emphasis on authenticity.

From its inception, the gallery has focused on promoting Polish art alongside carefully selected original prints by major European masters of the 20th century, including Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, Joan Miró, Marc Chagall, Pierre Alechinsky, and others. Many of these artists—like numerous leading Polish figures—were closely connected to Paris, a shared artistic lineage reflected in the gallery’s interior concept, which draws on the intellectual and cultural atmosphere of 20th-century Paris.

During the pandemic period, the gallery underwent a generational transition and was taken over by Damian Picz, son of Jaremi Picz, whose artistic practice shaped him from an early age. Raised in the environment of an active artist’s studio, Damian was immersed in ongoing discussions on form, technique, materiality, and authenticity, as well as in the intellectual foundations of modern European art. This formative background fostered his sensitivity to artistic quality, historical context, and connoisseurship, with a particular focus on works on paper, illustrated books and original printmaking — lithographs, etchings, and related graphic techniques — which continues to define the gallery’s curatorial profile under his direction. Following this transition, Jaremi devoted himself fully to his artistic practice, contributing to a sustained international exhibition presence. His works are presented at all art fairs in which the gallery participates and have been exhibited in numerous international locations, including Paris, New York, Venice, Munich, Prague, Warsaw, Monaco, Bonn, Málaga, and Marbella.

In 2022, Epicentrum Art Gallery expanded its cultural role by initiating exhibitions in cooperation with public institutions, addressing both experienced collectors and new audiences. Guided by expertise, curiosity, and a commitment to growth, the gallery operates at the intersection of contemporary energy and the enduring legacy of modern art, remaining aligned with the artistic vision behind Jaremi Picz’s Epicentrum series. That same year, Patryk Mauer joined the gallery’s leadership team, strengthening its technological capabilities. As part of its continued development, the gallery is committed to further expansion of its cultural activities and the continued development of its digital presence to the highest international standards.

In its ongoing practice, the gallery operates in collaboration with private collectors, public institutions, and international partners, curating exhibitions and cultural initiatives, as well as facilitating responsible acquisitions, informed by art-historical research and art market expertise. The gallery maintains a regular presence at major art fairs, including New York, Los Angeles and Palm Beach, while its international engagement continues to evolve.
