Alfred Lenica (1899–1977) was a Polish painter and one of the leading figures of post-war abstraction in Poland. Initially influenced by Cubism and Surrealism, he became closely connected with the country’s avant-garde circles and gradually developed an independent approach to non-figurative painting. His mature work is characterised by flowing organic forms, intense colour and dynamic dark contours.
