Frank Stella (1936–2024) was an American artist and one of the most important figures in post-war abstraction. He became known for his rigorous geometric compositions, repeated forms, and bold exploration of colour, structure, and space.
Printmaking was a major part of Stella’s practice. Working with lithography, screenprinting, etching, and relief techniques, he created increasingly complex works that pushed the boundaries of traditional graphic art. His innovative approach and constant experimentation secured his lasting importance in twentieth-century art.
