Urashima Taro – The fisherman who visits an underwater kingdom and discovers time’s mysterious passage.
This story tells of a humble fisherman who rescues a turtle and is rewarded with a visit to the Dragon Palace beneath the sea. When he returns home, he finds that centuries have passed. Dalí’s version merges aquatic imagery with the surreal distortion of time — a favorite Dalínian motif. The delicate linear etching and soft pochoir color evoke the shimmering stillness of an underwater world, while the narrative echoes the Surrealists’ obsession with the relativity of experience and the fragile boundary between dream and reality.
